2020 AIMES Arts Award winner receives inaugural Bill Sheat Dance Award

Recently Kit, who was our 2014 AIMES Emerging Talent Winner, and 2020 AIMES Arts Award winner, became the inaugural recipient of the Bill Sheat Dance Award - a legacy award in memory of a huge arts philanthropist and advocate Bill Sheat OBE, CNZM who sadly passed away this year.

The Bill Sheat Dance Award is an annual grant awarded on merit to support a dancer committed to advancing their dance career and their intention to contribute and commit to the future dance environment in Aotearoa/New Zealand. Only one dancer is picked every year, and as this is the first it has been a huge honour for Kit, and we are very proud of his accolade.

Recently Kit performed with New Zealand’s newest contemporary ballet company “BalletCollective Aotearoa” in their debut season titled “Subtle Dances”. They performed at both the Auckland Arts festival and the Dunedin Arts festival.

In other news, Kit is also heading out on tour to the south island with a show called "Grooves!”. The show will be travelling around to 10 different theatres in the space of two weeks, which is a fantastic opportunity and a huge amount of work! We would love to see members of the club and fellow Alumni come along if they are in town, here is a little more info on this show....
